Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Joins ‘Zootopia 2’ Cast Ahead of Ticket Sales
Walt Disney Animation’s highly-anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2, has just amplified its star power, announcing that global icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been cast in a key new role.
The casting news, which was made public alongside the start of advanced ticket sales for IMAX and 4DX screens, confirms that the action star is adding another major Disney franchise to his filmography, further solidifying his strong relationship with the studio that brought him the success of Moana.
The long-awaited sequel, directed by the returning team of Jared Bush and Byron Howard, is set to hit theaters on November 26, 2025, positioning it as a front-runner for one of the year’s highest-grossing films.
Meet Zeke: The Accident-Prone Dik-Dik
Johnson, known for voicing the demigod Maui in the Moana franchise, will portray a character with a significantly smaller stature but a hilarious description: Zeke, an accident-prone dik-dik.
According to the official character description, Zeke “meets with a musical mishap as a result of Judy and Nick’s high-speed pursuit gone awry.” This suggests a laugh-out-loud cameo moment that ties directly into the detectives’ latest case.

Box Office Pro is currently forecasting a massive opening weekend, with the film projected to make $95 million to $110 million during the three-day domestic weekend. While these numbers are slightly below the record-breaking success of last year’s Moana 2, a performance in this range would instantly place Zootopia 2 among the top 10 biggest domestic opening weekends of 2025.
