Exterior Refurbishment Underway on Discovery Trading Company
Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom will notice a minor change to the exterior of the Discovery Trading Company shop on Discovery Island. The park’s flagship merchandise location is currently undergoing an exterior refurbishment.

The good news for shoppers is that the store remains open for business. However, one set of entry doors is temporarily blocked by green scrims and rolling planters. This setup is effectively shielding views of the construction work from guests walking past. Despite the blockage, some of the shop’s iconic theming, including the intricate carvings and lanterns, remain visible and intact.
The rolling planters extend around the corner of the building, with the scrims wrapped tightly around columns at either end of the row.

Inside the Shop
On the interior of Discovery Trading Company, the now-blocked set of doors is closed off. An A-frame sign from Facility Asset Management is propped in front, featuring a common message found during Disney park refurbishments:
Please pardon our appearance This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment
Adding to the sense of ongoing work, it was also noted that no music was playing inside the shop during this time.
Discovery Trading Company, along with its connected shop, Riverside Depot, serves as the main merchandise hub for Animal Kingdom. The shops are conveniently located on Discovery Island, on the right side immediately after guests enter the park. The refurbishment is expected to enhance the building’s facade, ensuring the iconic look of this central location remains pristine for years to come.
