Curtain Up! Episode 4 of We Call It Imagineering Shines a Spotlight on Disney Live Entertainment
🎭 Lights, magic, action! The fourth episode of Disney’s behind-the-magic docuseries We Call It Imagineering has officially taken the stage, and this one is all about the heartbeat of Disney Parks: Live Entertainment.
Hosted by David Lightbody, Senior Vice President of Disney Live Entertainment, this episode titled “On with the Show!” pulls back the curtain on the creators, performers, and dreamers who bring Disney’s most dazzling parades, nighttime shows, and theatrical moments to life around the globe.

This episode takes us on a whirlwind backstage tour of some of the biggest and boldest new productions, including “Disney Tales of Magic” at Disneyland Paris, a spectacular storybook-style stage show; the vibrant and whimsical “Friendtastic!” parade at Hong Kong Disneyland, celebrating its 20th anniversary with flair and fanfare; and an overnight rehearsal of “World of Color Happiness!” for the Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary, lighting up the night with joy and color.

Hold onto your mouse ears, because this episode also gives us our first-ever glimpse at “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away,” the brand-new nighttime parade debuting July 20 at Walt Disney World. You’ll get to see the floats come to life during rehearsals and meet Whimsy, an original character created just for this experience. It promises to be a sparkling mix of classic Disney charm and fresh storytelling magic.

As Lightbody explains, Disney Live Entertainment is deeply rooted in Walt’s vision of the parks as theatrical experiences, where cast members are onstage and every day feels like opening night. From the very first Disneyland parade in 1955 to today’s cutting-edge drone shows and synchronized fireworks, Disney Live Entertainment continues to innovate while staying true to its storytelling roots.

This is the same team that created the first parade soundtrack that changes with each float, the first nighttime electrical parade, the first fireworks at sea, and the first daily-operating drone show. Whether it’s on land, at sea, or in the skies above, this group brings Disney dreams to life with every show.
