Pixar Returns to Italy with “Gatto,” A Tale of Friendship and Feline Redemption
Disney and Pixar have officially announced their next original feature film, “Gatto,” slated to hit theaters in June 2027. The news, just revealed, has fans buzzing, especially with the return of “Luca” director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren at the helm.

“Gatto” will transport audiences back to Casarosa’s beloved home country of Italy, this time setting its paws in the enchanting city of Venice. The story centers on a black cat named Nero, a character described as grappling with existential questions about his past choices. As Variety shared, Nero “begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives.”
Adding a unique twist to the narrative, Pixar’s social media announcement revealed a compelling plot point: Nero finds himself “indebted to a feline mob boss.” This precarious situation forces him into an unexpected alliance, as he is “forced to forge an unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose.”
