While Friday saw a significant 70% dip to $17 million after its holiday-boosted opening, the film rebounded strongly with $25.6 million on Saturday and $20.4 million on Sunday. This robust performance resulted in a 57% drop for the full three-day weekend, bringing its domestic total to a staggering $280.1 million in just two weeks, showcasing its enduring appeal and solidifying its place as a major summer hit.
In a truly impressive feat, Disney has become the first studio to cross the $1 billion mark at the domestic box office year-to-date. This achievement not only highlights the ongoing success of their cinematic slate, but also underscores Disney’s remarkable consistency.
