Disney World is in the Process of Filing Permits for the Magic Kingdom Expansion Project
Following Disney’s recent settlement with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, Walt Disney World is moving forward with its ambitious “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion project. The company is filing permits to prepare the land behind Magic Kingdom for what’s rumored to be the park’s largest expansion ever.

Scott Gustin reports that Disney will file water management permits within the next few weeks, a move confirmed by Walt Disney Imagineering.
Initially announced at D23 Expo 2022, this expansion could include areas themed to “Coco,” “Encanto,” and a dedicated Disney Villains zone. However, the “Encanto” concept, along with a potential Indiana Jones attraction, has shifted to the planned Tropical Americas expansion for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
