Work continues on transforming Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure seems to be continuing on full steam ahead. With the attraction slated to open in late 2024, Imagineers have been busy transforming the former Splash Mountain into the all-new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Scaffolding is evident all around the exterior mountain piece of the ride, with the Tiana water tower (complete with Tiara) evident in the foreground. The mountain palate seems to have been subdued via the recent painting, and the top of the mountain (which was design to resemble a tree branch) has been removed.

The track area is drained and covered, with work continuing on this portion of the ride as well. Splash Mountain veterans will notice the missing ‘briar patch’ spikes on this aspect of the ride.

About Tianas Bayou Adventure

The enchantment of the bayou will illuminate with a celebration during Mardi Gras season hosted by Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen, with Mama Odie serving as the catalyst to that magic.

Set in 1927, after the events of “The Princess and the Frog,” Tiana’s Bayou Adventure revolves around Tiana’s establishment of Tiana’s Foods co-ops. These co-ops are located in a salt mine, where cultivators grow crops along the waters. During the adventure, Tiana and her friend, the lovable alligator Louis, embark on a journey into the bayou to find animal friends. Their ultimate goal is to prepare a spectacular Mardi Gras celebration for the people of New Orleans.

While the existing Splash Mountain track will remain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will receive new set dressing and audio-animatronics to bring the story to life. Multiple Tiana audio-animatronics will be featured, showcasing her in a new adventuring outfit. The attention to detail in the set design and animatronics will transport visitors into the heart of the bayou, immersing them in the captivating world of Tiana.

To enrich the overall experience, the queue and attraction music are being curated by award-winning artists PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard. The music will combine classic songs from the movie with New Orleans classics and original compositions, ensuring an authentic and vibrant soundtrack throughout the adventure. Furthermore, the enticing aroma of beignets will reportedly be wafted through the queue, immersing visitors in the sensory delights of Tiana’s Foods.
