John Stamos’ Son Thinks He’s Cool for Playing Iron Man

John Stamos' Son Thinks He's Cool for Playing Iron Man

Though Robert Downey Jr. played the titular role of Tony Stark/Iron Man throughout the MCU, fan favorite actor John Stamos voices the animated version of Tony in the hit Disney Junior Series, ‘Spidey and His Amazing Friends’.

Stamos has spent years trying to convince his son Billy that he is cool, having casually mentioned he played with The Beach Boys, starred in several shows and films, but the thing that makes Billy excited about his father’s fame? His roles as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Spidey and His Amazing Friends and as Captain Salty Bones in the upcoming special Mickey Mouse Funhouse: Pirate Adventure.

John shared his son’s enthusiasm while speaking with TV Insider, “[Billy’s] first real show that he watched all the time on Disney+ was Mickey’s Playhouse, and then Funhouse did come out, but that was his show. And I said, “your dad’s gonna be on there. I’m doing Salty, arrr!” and that got him excited. Then a few months went by before I started the other one. And I walked in, he was watching Spidey. He loves it and he is so cute. Sometimes we’ll turn it on and he’ll be quietly singing, he’ll be lip syncing to the title song. But when I told him I was Iron Man, too, he flipped. So now he thinks I’m cool, finally. He tells everybody too, “My dad plays Iron Man,” and they’re like, “No, that’s Robert Downey Jr.” He says, “No, on the cartoon.” He loves it. And I do Funhouse from home in my home studio. So he’ll come up and visit and he’ll sit there, mostly quiet. As soon as it starts, then he wants to start talking and give me directions and then we have to send him out, but he’ll sit on my lap and I’ll do the Salty Bones thing.”
