Marvel’s “Thor: Love and Thunder,” the fourth standalone story about Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder is gearing up to turbocharge the domestic box office.
According to Deadline, Thor: Love and Thunder is looking at a $140M-$160M start in U.S./Canada and another $150M abroad for a global debut around $300M.
Based on initial projections, ticket sales should guarantee that “Thor: Love and Thunder” enjoys one of the biggest opening weekends of the year, ranking above “The Batman” ($134 million debut) and somewhere in between “Jurassic World: Dominion” ($145 million debut) and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” ($185 million debut).

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced – a search for self-discovery. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.
Thor: Love and Thunder will see the introduction of Natalie Portman’s “The Mighty Thor”, the return of Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, as well as the Marvel Studios debut of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. Directed by Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok,” “Jojo Rabbit”) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum. Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere in theaters on July 8, 2022.
