According to Deadline, Director Guy Richie (Aladdin 2019, Sherlock Holmes) has signed on to the upcoming Disney live-action remake of Hercules. Previously, The Russo Brothers had announced they would be producing under their AGBO production company and the studio is currently going the distance to find a screenwriter for the project after an early draft was presented by Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).

Casting rumors have been circling since the initial announcement was made 2020, but no formal castings have been announced by Disney at this time. The original animated film followed the adventures of “Hercules (Tate Donovan), a son of gods, was snatched as a baby by Hades (James Woods) and forced to live among mortals as a half-man, half-god. Now a teenager, Hercules needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus. With his plucky satyr sidekick, Philoctetes (Danny DeVito), along for the ride, Hercules must learn how to use his strength to defeat a series of evil creatures.“
