Back in 2020, Disney announced Sister Act 3 would be developed for Disney+ and in recent years it has been shared that Whoopi Goldberg and Kathy Najimy would be returning for the film, and reportedly Tiffany Haddish will be joining the cast of the Disney+ Original Movie.

It was recent;y shared on the D23 podcast that Director Tim Federle has signed on to direct the sequel film for Disney+, with Federle sharing: “Vanessa Morrison runs the streaming film division and Vanessa has been a real mentor for me; she’s the person who said ‘you should direct Better Nate Than Ever’, and when Vanessa saw the rough cut of Better Nate Than Ever she called me and said, ‘We’ve been wanting to do Sister Act 3 for a while, Whoopi’s excited, I think you’re the director for it’”.

Production on the film has been slow going due to the delays in entertainment caused by the pandemic. Filming is expected to begin sometime this year. A premiere date for the film has yet to be revealed. Sister Act and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit are now available to stream on Disney+.
