Frontier and Spirit Airlines are merging to bring passengers the most competitive pricing! The airlines announced the $6.6 billion merger today. This will be America’s fifth largest airline.

“This transaction is centered around creating an aggressive ultra-low fare competitor to serve our guests even better, expand career opportunities for our team members and increase competitive pressure, resulting in more consumer-friendly fares for the flying public,” said Spirit CEO Ted Christie.

We don’t know yet what brand the airlines will fly under or who will lead management of the new airline. The new airline will offer more than 1,000 daily flights to over 145 destinations.
Spirit is advertising this merger as “creating America’s most competitive ultra-low fare airline.”
The airline tweeted that “Together, we’ll invest in innovation & growth bringing more ultra-low fares to travelers in the U.S., Latin America & the Caribbean.”
