Kevin Feige Reveals Why Previous Spider-Man Villains Are Returning In 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'

Marvel fans were elated to find out the original cast members such as Alfred Molina (Doc Ock), Jamie Foxx (Electro), and Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin) would be returning to portray their respective Spider-Man villains in Spider-Man: No Way Home. During the recent press tour for the film, Marvel Studios President and CCO Kevin Feige shared why Sony and Marvel chose to bring back the original casts from the original Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Feige shared with ScreenRant during an interview, “I think if we’ve learned anything over the years, and particularly just the deal between Disney and Sony to do these movies together, that almost anything is possible if enough people believe in it and have a passion for it. Kicking off with Peter Parker’s identity being revealed at the end of Far From Home immediately set us on a course for things we’d never seen before in a Spider-Man movie. That’s the fun of making movies, is to do things people haven’t seen before, and in the MCU there are ways that lots of amazing things can happen, and that Dr. Strange would be a good conduit to that.”

The film also stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, and  Marisa Tomei all reprising their roles from the previous Spidey films, with Benedict Cumberbatch joining the fray as Doctor Strange (but maybe don’t call him “Stephen,” that’s weird). The film is directed by Jon Watts, and written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers; the film is produced by Kevin and Feige Amy Pascal, and executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, JoAnn Perritano, Rachel O’Connor, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach.
