Dave Bautista Adopts Puppy from Humane Society and Offers Reward to Find Her Abuser. Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has a soft spot for neglected and forgotten animals, and after adopting a new puppy from the
Tampa Bay Humane Society the famed actor is now offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can identify, or offer information, regarding her abuser.

After being found abandoned in a cemetery with a chain wound so tightly around her neck that her skin grew around it, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay temporarily named her Sage and had to perform surgery to remove the chain and help Sage heal enough to be healthy for adoption. Sage’s story garnished a ton of media attention, which led to Bautista hearing her story and knowing he needed to take action and give her a loving “furever” home.

“To me, there’s nothing more innocent and pure than a puppy,” Bautista continued, “Someone who can abuse a puppy has got to be the lowest form of human being, pure evil. It makes me sick to my stomach.” Bautista reportedly offered to “personally hand over” $5,000 to anyone who offers information that leads to an arrest and conviction of Sage’s abuser. According to People, “the HSTB joined Bautista’s efforts adding $1,500 to the reward, followed by Alvarez Injury Law, which matched Bautista’s $5,000.”

The puppy formally known as Sage, now named Penny Bautista, has become a welcome addition to his home and is being raised alongside Bautista’s pack of lovable puppers, Ollie and Maggie. “This dog was found abandoned in a cemetery eating garbage and went home in Dave Bautista’s Rolls Royce,” said Sherry Silk, CEO of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. “Talk about a ‘rags to riches’ story.”

“She is now a Bautista and she will never be abused again a day in her life. She is about to live her best puppy life ever … and she has her forever home,” confirmed Dave. We love to hear that Penny is doing well in her new home and hope the humane society and Bautista have luck in finding Penny’s abuser.
