California Governor Gavin Newsom is currently facing a recall election. Despite friction between the Walt Disney Company and Newsom, Disney has donated to his campaign.

Subsidiary Disney Worldwide Services has contributed $32,400 to the Newsom campaign. The campaign is using funds to fight a recall happening in two weeks.
The Walt Disney Company was unhappy with Newsom’s refusal to allow its California theme parks to reopen last year. In November, CEO Bob Chapek said the company was “extremely disappointed”. Former CEO Bob Iger even resigned from a California task force focused on the state’s recovery.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have since reopened in California after Newsom lifted state restrictions.
Newsom’s campaign has raised a substantial amount of money and chances are good that he will win re-election.
