Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt to Return for ‘Jungle Cruise’ Sequel. Disney has announced that a sequel film is in the works and will see the return of Dwayne Johnson as Frank and Emily Blunt as Dr. Lily Houghton. “The Rock” had teased previously that he was set to meet with Disney regarding a sequel, and given the film’s success in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access, it comes as no surprise that Disney was eager to develop a sequel film.
The original film follows Dr. Lily Houghton and her brother McGregor who enlist the aid of wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff to take them down the Amazon in his ramshackle boat. Together, they search for an ancient tree that holds the power to heal — a discovery that will change the future of medicine.

If we had to guess, the sequel will explore the effects of the Tears of the Moon discovery has on the society and medicinal practices of the time, as well as the future of Fransisco (Dwayne Johnson) as he adjusts to life in London and away from The Amazon. Reportedly Jaume Collet-Serra will return to direct the sequel film, with Michael Green returning to pen the script for Jungle Cruise 2.
