Florida is a major tourism destination for both United States residents as well as international travelers. The state has multiple theme parks, a warm climate, and so many great beaches! During the pandemic, however, travel slowed down a lot. But now, Florida tourism is up 223% from last year.

As the COVID-19 vaccine has become more readily available and travel restrictions were lessened, Florida’s tourism rates are nearly back to a pre-pandemic state. The Orlando Sentinel reported some recent statistics pertaining to Florida’s visitation:
“Florida drew 31.7 million visitors in the second quarter of this year, a 16.3% improvement from the first three months of the year and 223.4% above the second quarter of 2020, when the global COVID-19 pandemic shut down most of the tourism industry.”

The amount of tourists is only 2.2% less than before the pandemic started. Florida tourism is really picking up! Sadly, with the Delta variant, so are COVID-19 cases in the state.
Walt Disney World has also seen an increase in guests visiting the resort. Due to the increase in COVID cases, the resort has reinstated its mask policy for all indoor locations, attractions, and certain queues. On top of that, Disney is requiring all salaried and non-union cast members to be vaccinated by the end of next month.
