Kevin Feige Says Long-Term Movie Deals Are Done at Marvel Studios. One major aspect that allowed the MCU to truly come to fruition was the willingness by the original cast members such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and more to stick out for long term movie deals with Marvel Studios, but now that the original cast members are moving on in their lives and careers the film studio is looking to evolve their casting arrangements as well.

According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the studio is looking to have fairer deals with their cast members and allow for story elements to change without the worry of contractual obligations for both Marvel Studios and the new or established actors.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the future of Marvel Studios and the MCU in general, Feige shared, “[Long term deals] got a lot of attention way back when, with I think Scarlett [Johansson], and [Chris] Hemsworth and [Chris] Evans and Sam Jackson. It varies now.”

The Marvel Studios head added the studio “would throw theme park attractions” into talent deals nowadays, referencing appearances like Tom Holland in the new Avengers Campus attraction WEB Slingers in Disneyland. “It varies, project to project, cast to cast,” Feige added. “Really, what we want are people that come in, are excited to be in the universe, are excited at the opportunity to do more things, as opposed to being locked into contractual obligations.”

In the last year or so, many Marvel Stars have shared the nervous feeling of not knowing what’s on the table when it comes to their future in the MCU, particularly the cast members of WandaVision such as Paul Bettany (Vision) and Kathryn Hahn (Agatha Harkness) who are both in a holding pattern until the studio says otherwise. Other actors such as Elizabeth Olsen, Brie Larson, Tom Holland, and Anthony Mackie are currently signed on for multiple projects, but will likely be some of the last of the MCU actors to maintain long-term contracts with Marvel Studios.
