Disney+ Removes Controversial Classic Disney Films from Kids Accounts. Disney+ subscribers in the UK are reporting various Classic Disney films missing from their children’s accounts with the popular streaming service. Titles such as Peter Pan, The Aristocats, Dumbo, and The Swiss Family Robinson have been reported missing and notably all of these titles include warnings before the programs that state:
“This programme includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.”
When asked by the DailyMail, Disney did not offer a formal explanation for the removal of these titles, but notably the only connection between the missing movies appears to be the shared warning of misrepresentation of various races and cultures. It is currently unknown if subscribers in other countries also have had content removed from the parentally controlled accounts.
Have you noticed any missing titles from parentally controlled accounts? Do you think Disney is within their right to control what family rated content is available for streaming to their younger viewers or should the choice be up to the parents/subscribers? We would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions in the comments.

This is absolutely ridiculous! There is nothing wrong with these movies. How about Disney let parents be parents and they stick to rides and movies. We can decide what we see and our kids see. Y’all are making something out of nothing by doing this. Thank goodness we own these on DVD. I think we’ll watch one tonight!
I agree with the above comments. Leave all movies on Disney+ and allow parents to decide what their children can or can not watch. Leave the warnings if that makes you more comfortable.
If we all who are offended by the dropping of these classic movies would drop our disney+ subscription I think changes would be made. This is getting ridiculous! I refuse to add to their paychecks when THEY decide what we want our kids to see!
Kids would never look at these movies and think negatively about the way things are portrayed (people of color working at the circus, etc.) Have NO idea what is negative in Aristocats, Peter Pan and Swiss Family Robinson off the top of my head. And if I don’t see it, what makes them think a kid would? Bringing attention to things where there wouldn’t normally be any attention brought to it is ridiculous and does more harm than good.
This is kind of getting ridiculous. Since when is Disney+ the parent of my child – I decide if my child can watch something or not. Adults well most adults are fully capable of making decisions on their own. Not to mention there’s nothing wrong with those movies!!!
I think parents should be the ones to decide what their kids should and shouldn’t watch. After all it all starts in the home. Removing these classic films from kids accounts is not a good way to go about this. We are paying for a service we should be allowed to get what we pay for plus monitor activity.
