Tokyo Disneyland has announced reducing hours due to spike in COVID cases. Compared to other Disney parks across the world, Tokyo Disneyland Resort has been open since the 1st July, operating on 12-hour days with some limited exceptions. From September, both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have been open from 9am to 9pm. However, Tokyo Disneyland has announced reducing hours in response to a massive spike in COVID cases within the Tokyo area.
Instead the parks will now be open from 9 am to 8 pm instead with the change coming on the 8th January! As you can see from their website, this change will remain until the end of the month and then we predict that Tokyo Disneyland will review the situation. The demand to reduce the hours seems to be in response to the Japanese government preparing for a potential state of emergency due to the rapid increase in COVID cases in Tokyo and its surrounding areas, where Tokyo Disneyland resides!
According to the COVID calculator, it seems as though there has been a massive spike in cases in Tokyo showing a 5,690 increase on the 6th January! Bringing the total amount of cases in Tokyo since the beginning of COVID to 12,370!
So keep an eye on our website for more updates regarding Tokyo Disneyland as more cases could result in the parks closing again!
