Ming-Na Wen to Voice Fennec Shand in ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch‘. ‘The Mandalorian‘ Season 2 saw the return of Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand in Chapter 14: The Tragedy. Last we had seen the expert marksman and mercenary she was left for dead in the deserts of Tatooine, but we do know that her story is far from over.
During The Walt Disney Company Investor Day 2020 Lucasfilm presented a new sizzle trailer for the new animated series: The Bad Batch which featured a brief but distinguishable appearance of Fennec Shand, sparking interest in Ming-Na Wen’s participation. After the trailers premiere series producer Dave Filoni reportedly asked Wen to keep her involvement a secret, but it was obvious that wouldn’t last for long and now the Disney Legend has confirmed she will reprise her role as Fennec Shand for The Bad Batch.
“Do you know how long I’ve had to keep silent about Fennec coming back?” Ming-Na Wen shared with a laugh during an interview with StarWars.com. “This is the first time I’ve been able to talk about it!”
Wen continued, “Dave, if you wanted to keep it a secret, you shouldn’t have put me in the trailer!” Wen recalled. “Everybody is saying they just want the confirmation. So, yes, it is Fennec! It’s a younger Fennec and she is voiced by me and I’m thrilled and beyond happy that Dave wanted to create more of a backstory for her.”
