It has been confirmed Mads Mikkelsen is set to replace Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3. Mads who was one of the stars of Star Wars Rogue One will be taking Depp’s place in the upcoming Harry Potter Prequel.
Warner Bros. had to pick a replacement quickly given that the third film in the series had already begun production in the U.K.
Earlier this month Johnny Depp was forced to resign by Warner Bros which he shared on his Instagram account.
Warner Bros. asked Depp to resign from the film after the actor lost his libel lawsuit against a U.K. publication that alleged he was abusive towards his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard.
The release date of Fantastic Beasts 3 has been pushed back to July 15, 2022 for now.
