The start of the holiday season is almost here and Disney World announced today that the Christmas season will begin on November 6 at the Resort. You can’t go wrong with Christmastime at Disney World, but sadly some of the usual seasonal offerings will not be happening this year.
Instead of the Castle Dream Lights this year, Cinderella castle will be transformed with a rotating series of designs including a whimsical Christmas sweater and a regal overlay of red, green and gold ornamentation.
Also on hiatus this year is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Due to the high crowds the party brings to Magic Kingdom, it has been canceled.
Missing from Epcot this year is the cherished Candlelight Processional.
The Resort hotels will still be decked out for the holidays but the gingerbread displays will not make an appearance this year. Disney stated that those will not be available due to physical distancing guidelines.
While Santa will make time for special pop-up appearances at each park, waving and exclaiming holiday wishes to all, he will not be available for meet and greets this year. You will have to write him a letter to let him know what is on your wish list.
Over at Disney Springs, guests will still see beautiful trees decorated for the season, but the Christmas Tree Trail will not be available this year.
While there will be quite a bit missing from the holidays at Disney World this year, there will still be some magical seasonal offerings. You can find that information here.
