Disney Cruise Line Blog is reporting that Disney Cruise Line is expected to limit capacity to 70% when it returns to cruising. Rodger Rees, Port Director/CEO of the Port of Galveston shared details from his recent discussions with Disney Cruise Line at the Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves meeting.
He shared the following information:
- Disney Cruise Line will only allow a limited amount of people in the terminal at a time on embarkation day. It is anticipated that port arrival times will now be enforced.
- The port and cruise lines are prepared for later departure times to account for extended embarkation and debarkation times on turnover days.
- Disney Cruise Line is targeting a 70% occupancy level when the Disney Wonder returns to service at the Port of Galveston.
During the board meeting, members also discussed Disney proposing to bring fresh air into the Port Canaveral terminals instead of recirculating air.
It is suspected that the Disney Fantasy will be the test ship to resume sailings out of Port Canaveral before Disney Cruise Line fully resumes cruise operations. There is still no set date on when that will happen. Cruise Lines and Ports are still in the early stages of discussions.
