Some unfortunate news for certain Disney Park Cast Members. Select employees of Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort recently received an email regarding their furlough. The email details further information on how the furlough has been extended amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Hearing of a longer furlough period is dismaying. But these are uncertain times with the global pandemic. Caring for the health and safety of the public remains a priority.
According to CNBC investment bank UBS research analyst John Hodulik said, “We believe Parks’ profitability will be impaired for a longer period of time given the lingering effects of the outbreak.” Hodulik contends, “The economic recession plus the need for social distancing, new health precautions, the lack of travel and crowd aversion are likely to make this business less profitable until there is a widely available vaccine.”
The Disney Company’s email continues with a promising message though. They hope that their businesses will be back up and running soon while reassuring the furlough will remain temporary. However, there is a glimmer of hope for the future of Disneyland Resort. It was recently announced that Orange County is no longer on California’s COVID-19 watch list for health and safety. We hope this indicates a return to normal soon for everyone.
