Today the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) announced that all sailings through October 31 are suspended. This is separate from the CDC’s No Sail order which expires at the end of September.
CLIA release the following statement:
“Committed to the health and safety of passengers and crew, CLIA ocean-going cruise line members are announcing a third voluntary suspension of U.S. cruise operations until 31 October 2020.“
This is the second extension from CLIA since the original decision made in March.
“We believe it is prudent at this time to voluntarily extend the suspension of U.S. ocean-going cruise operations,” reads the CLIA statement. “This is a difficult decision as we recognize the crushing impact that this pandemic has had on our community and every other industry. However, we believe this proactive action further demonstrates the cruise industry’s commitment to public health and willingness to voluntarily suspend operations in the interest of public health and safety.”
Disney Cruise Line is a member of CLIA and will need to follow these regulations. We expect to see an announcement from Disney regarding more cruise cancelations soon.
