A retired Walt Disney World Cast Member, Bob Carlos, recently passed away due to coronavirus. He was known to many who both visited and worked at the Magic Kingdom. Mr. Carlos was known as “Pirate Bob” when working for the gift shop at the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Bob worked at Walt Disney World until his retirement in 2011.
Pirate Bob had a larger-than-life personality when he worked in the gift shop. He would cheerfully greet customers and entertain guests with his humor. Some guests would even seek his autograph since he was a popular cast member to see after riding the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
Pirate Bob was known for known for telling campy jokes such as the following:
“What be a pirate’s favorite letter?” he bellowed in his booming voice as he pulled from his endless pirate joke collection. “It’s the C we love!”
Bob worked at Disney along with his wife, Bano Carlos. She worked at Disney Reservation for over 20 years.
Bob and Bano were married for over 50 years. Unfortunately, both passed away in the past month due to coronavirus. Bano Carlos passed away at age 73 on March 30, 2020. Bob Carlos passed away at age 75 on April 24, 2020. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family.
