New Star Wars Female-Centric Series Coming to Disney+. According to an exclusive report from Variety, Executive Producer and co-creator for Netflix’s Russian Doll, Leslye Headland, has been tapped to create a female-centric Star Wars series that will stream exclusively on Disney+.
Though an exact plot for the series has yet to be revealed, the source did claim the new series would take place in a new part of the Star Wars timeline, but it is unknown exactly when the story will take place. No casting or premiere dates have been announced at this time. The new series has no formal attachments other than Leslye Headland at the time of writing.
Lucasfilm is currently working on two other new projects for Disney+ including the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi Series with Ewan McGregor set to reprise his original role as Obi-Wan and another untitled series about Cassian Andor from Star Wars: Rogue One starring Diego Luna.
The famed studio is also beginning pre-production for the newly ordered Season 3 of pop cult phenomenon, The Mandalorian. Season 2 of The Mandalorian is scheduled to premiere in October 2020 exclusively on Disney+, with Season 3 projected to premiere in October 2021.
