Need some good news today? How about good news in the form of delicious hamburger sliders? Despite current events, progress on Florida’s first White Castle continues! The site located near Walt Disney World will soon boast the only restaurant of its kind since the company withdrew from the state of Florida in the 1960s. Bring on the buns!
The company is prepared to submit plans to local officials in the next couple of weeks for a 4500-square-foot White Castle restaurant on Daryl Carter Parkway. This will make it the largest White Castle in the world. If everything proceeds on schedule, they will open sometime early next year.
Other restaurants have faced an inability to pay rent as of late, according to Whittall, who is president and CEO of the developing company for White Castle’s newest site. But the economic repercussions of restaurant dining rooms being closed has not yet impacted the progress of either this White Castle or a planned Portillo’s at the same construction site. Both restaurants have spokesmen who are positive and enthusiastic about opening according to plan, with Portillo’s previously projecting an opening later this same year.
Orlando natives and tourists alike can be grateful that although they frequent their kitchens more often these days, next year will bring new and exciting dining options to their Walt Disney World visits!
