‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘ Now on Digital To Lighten Spirits During Coronavirus Outbreak. In an unprecedented move, Disney has released Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker via Digital to help fans relax and lift their spirits amid the worldwide panic over the coronavirus outbreak.
The latest Star Wars film is now available for purchase only via iTunes, FandangoNOW, Vudu, and Xfinity. The title is not currently available to rent online. In other efforts to lift spirits Disney also pushed up the release of Frozen II on Disney+ and subscribers will be able to begin streaming the popular sequel on Sunday, March 15th.
To help prevent losses and keep audiences from getting sick, Disney has pushed back the theatrical releases of Mulan, The New Mutants, and Antlers. All three films will be rescheduled for releases later in 2020. It is currently unknown if other titles such as Marvel Studios’ Black Widow and Disney’s Artemis Fowl will be affected by the changes as well.
