Coronavirus May Delay Production of "Baby Yoda" Merchandise and Toys

Coronavirus May Delay Production of “Baby Yoda” Merchandise and Toys. Star Wars fans, prepare yourselves, there may be a delay in production for new merchandise for ‘The Mandalorian‘, including The Child, aka “Baby Yoda.” Though the Coronavirus is no joke, luckily the currently shortages of material are due to preventative measures being taken by production companies to help keep people healthy around the world.

The potential delays may start rolling out soon as productions material dwindle in supply. Reportedly, manufacturers are having trouble getting materials such as resin and plastic, which are essential materials to most modern toys and products.

Hasbro is the official licensed producer for the highly anticipated interactive The Child toy that was set to arrive sometime this summer, but it looks like the official release for the toy won’t happen as scheduled. “If things aren’t normal by the time June and July roll around, there will be shortages on a litany of toys,” Jim Silver (Hasbro CEO of Toys) told CNN Business. “It would affect production of Baby Yoda and just about every other toy that is made overseas.”

“We are working to mitigate the impact of our manufacturing partner factories being closed longer than anticipated, as well as to reschedule the shipments we have not been able to make,” Hasbro officials stated last month according to CNN.

Hasbro predicts there will be a 5-10% shortage on materials for the initial product order and will likely roll out shipments of available products then follow up with the rest of the ordered product after production resumes.

We hope everyone stays healthy and that there is a minimal impact on the workers who are in affected regions. Stay safe everyone and don’t forget to wash your hands! Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Star Wars!
