Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy Want to Reprise Their Roles In Hocus Pocus 2 Coming to Disney+. Recently, Bette Midler hosted her annual Hulaween gala to raise funds for the New York Restoration Project.
“NYRP is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming open space in under-resourced communities to create a greener, more sustainable New York City. Since our founding in 1995 by Bette Midler, NYRP has planted trees, renovated gardens, restored parks, and transformed open space for communities throughout New York City’s five boroughs. As New York’s only citywide conservancy, we bring private resources to spaces that lack municipal support, fortifying the City’s aging infrastructure and creating a healthier environment for those who live in the most densely populated and least green neighborhoods.”
During the Hulaween gala, Midler spoke with ET on the red carpet about the Hocus Pocus sequel coming to Disney+ and the Disney Legend is more than enthusiastic about the project.
“Oh my goodness me. Oh I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse,” joked Midler, who dressed up as classic movie icon Mae West for this years gala. “We [Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker] wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters.”
Bette didn’t not say if she was approached yet about the project, but is very excited and willing to be onboard. “I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.”
Kathy Najimy also attended the Hulaween gala and had her own ideas for the sequel, even if they are not asked to reprise their roles.
“I heard about it online the same time as [everyone else],” Najimy said. “But here’s the honest answer: Sarah and Bette and I all have a million projects and things that we’re into, so I don’t know if they’re gonna offer us [roles]. I don’t know if the worlds are going to collide so that we could all three do it at the same time,” Kathy continued, “But I’m happy that it’s happening, because the fans are really rabid and they really want it,” she added with a smile. “[And] if we’re not all available to star in it, I think it would be so great to do a cameo. I think that’d be really fun.”
Original Hocus Pocus director and now Disney Legend, Kenny Ortega, spoke previously with ET about how he feels a sequel with the original cast would be “much more fun” and he really wants to work with the cast once again.
“I would like to see a sequel, and I think that the fans would like to see a sequel,” he told ET, “I think it would be much more fun to bring the ladies back. They’re all still vital and in their prime and capable of doing so much that it would be great to see Bette and Kathy and Sarah come back together to do another movie and I think they would like to.”
What do you think of a Hocus Pocus sequel on Disney+? Would you be excited if The Sanderson Sisters were back, yet again? How would they return and what sort of mischief would they get in to when returning, possibly, in 2020? We would love to hear your thoughts and theories in the comments.
