In October of 2018, a boy and his mother boarded the Disney Wonder for a trip of a lifetime, but that quickly turned when the boy was attacked by an anteater at one of the port stops.
When the Disney Wonder docked at Cartagena, Colombia the boy and his mother left the boat to visit The National Aviary of Colombia. It was there that the boy was attacked by an anteater that was not ” sequestered from visitors” causing severe injury to the boy.
Although documents have not reported what injuries the boy sustained, they do show that he was treated once back on board the Disney Wonder. According to the documents the boy was treated but did not receive enough treatment to prevent him from contracting a severe mycobacterial infection.
The family has since filed a lawsuit claiming The Magical Cruise Company and Vanter Cruise Health Services, which provided the medical personnel aboard the Disney Wonder during the trip, were negligent by not properly diagnosing and therefore not providing enough medical care for the boy.
Attorneys have filed the lawsuit seeking damages in excess of $15,000 and a jury trial.
