For most people Disney means movies and themed parks, but did you know there’s also an educational side of Disney you could explore?
Magic doesn’t just happen on stage when it comes to Disney Parks, there is so much more pixie dust behind the scenes in order to make this happen.
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as STEM are incorporated in Walt Disney World more then you think.
Earlier this year Disney announced the Disney Grants program, that supports non profit organizations that help build a strong foundation for children to thrive as healthy, confident, productive and capable citizens of Central Florida. The next two organizations to be #GrantedByDisney will focus on introducing and expanding STEM educational opportunities to local youth.
The first organization is the Orlando Science Center, they will use their $100,000 to help bring their Head Start program that introduces STEM concepts to preschool age kids to the classrooms of more then 50 teachers! To celebrate Disney honored them as Grand Marshals for the day at Magic Kingdom Park.
The second organization is PACE Center for Girls, their mission is to provide young girls and women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy, they will put their $100,000 into a new learning program for their Orange and Polk County learning centers. They also got a surprise visit from Doctor Minnie! and a few Disney leaders who talked about their stories in the STEM industry.
We can’t wait to see which organization will be #GrantedByDisney next!
