We had the amazing opportunity to see Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in 4D at the famous El Capitan Theatre! This showing is part of the El Capitan’s Fall Family Classics series.
We started off in the lower level of the theater to see a special exhibit in honor of the film. There was fan art and concept art. We even got to see set pieces they used in the stop motion creation of the movie. The set piece we were most excited to see was the Spiral Mountain where Jack expresses his lament.
As we made our way to the theatre to be seated, we couldn’t help but notice all the themed decor. There were Christmas lights draped from above and other Nightmare Before Christmas scenes depicted throughout the theatre. As the sounds of the vintage Wurlitzer organ filled the area, it felt like Halloween Time has officially begun! The work that the El Capitan put into the ambiance of this series is something to marvel.
Before the film started, producer Don Hahn and author Dave Bossert graced the El Capitan stage. Together they shared details and video footage of the making of The Nightmare Before Christmas.
During the special screening, the effects added to the over all excitement and experience of the film. The projections of ghosts added a spooky cool vibe. The Christmas lights during “What’s This?” were as whimsical as the song. Rolling fog emerged from the stage as the tension started to build when Sally tries to delay Jack taking flight with Zero. As the snowflakes fell from the ceiling, it tied everything together and there was a thunderous applause!
Enjoy The Nightmare Before Christmas in 4D at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, now through September 25th.
