Emma Stone’s ‘Cruella De Vil’ Release Date Pushed Back to 2021. The original release date would have seen the Emma Stone led film, Cruella, in theaters for Christmas 2020, but Disney has decided to push back the film to a release in May of 2021.
A formal reasoning for the films release date change has not been announced, but Comicbook.com speculates that with the acquisition of Fox by Disney, Disney is hoping to allow the Fox film scheduled for a December 2020 release to perform well in theaters with less in-company competition.
The new theatrical release date for Cruella is May 28, 2021, just in time for the holiday weekend. Cruella is expected to perform well in theaters despite the change in release, and will follow Cruella De Vil‘s story before she is introduced in 101 Dalmatians. We may also get to see a young Anita and Perdita before they meet Roger Radcliffe and Pongo in the park.
We would be lying if we said we weren’t a little upset about the push back, but we are just as excited to see Cruella in theaters in May 2021! Be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for all things Disney.
