I love looking back through old photos to see how the Disney parks and resorts have changed through the years, what do you think of this picture of the Contemporary Resort from September of 1972?
Did you know these rooms were built on an assembly line that produced about 15 a day?
The rooms look much more lush and the beds quite cozy now:
What’s your favorite thing about the Contemporary Resort?

This is where my family stayed on my first visit to Disney when I was 2, and I bet they still had those egg chairs then. 🙂
It is funny to see the rooms, they look so sterile. And of course the hilarious egg chairs!
I think it’s convenient that the monorail runs through it, but can you hear it every time it comes through? I remember shopping in the gift shop that’s right there under the tracks, and that was obviously loud, and I’ve wondered since then, but couldn’t find anyone to ask.
That would make it even more special!
Maybe we will stay there when we renew our vows at Disney!
I can’t remember the name but it had some neat stuff.

There is a really cute shop in the Contemporary, too.

The food was still really good.
We assume it was just an off day.
He didn’t even bother to stay and sing with the other cast members…
We did see him deliver a birthday cake to another table.
Our waiter was pretty much absent.
They barely paused for pictures!
Several of the characters zipped through the tables.
Extremely overcrowded.

Our second time, we weren’t as lucky.
Our second time, we weren’t as lucky.
We got tons of pictures that time.
It was very sweet.
Minnie even returned to our table several times because our little girl (who was 13 months old at the time) kept blowing her kisses and calling out to her.
It didn’t feel rushed at all….
The characters spent lots of time with each table which was GREAT!
It was crowded but not uncomfortably so.
The first time was great!
We have taken our kids to Chef Mickey’s a couple of times.
It’s so cool!
