Last month we brought you the heartwarming story of lifelong Star Wars fan Ron Villemaire who’s dying wish to see “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” came true through an outpowering of community support. Sadly, his daughter tweeted last night, January 22, that Villemaire passed away at 7:27 pm.
This evening at 7:27 pm my amazing father and best friend took his last journey home to heaven. I know he will be with my grandparents and safe with God. I’m thankful he is no longer in horrible pain. Thank you for all of your prayers #RonsLastJedi pic.twitter.com/v04HkdNuF3

Villemaire had been diagnosed with stage four cancer earlier this year. His declining health prevented him from attending the movie premiere for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. His daughter sent out a call for help on social media with #RonsLastJedi which was answered with overwhelming support from the community.
The 69-year-old Air Force Veteran received a surprise visit from Darth Vader at his bedside at the facility where he is currently receiving care. “Ron Villemaire,” said Darth Vader. “You have been summoned by the Emperor.”
Villemaire then had first responders escort him to the movie theater. “Our role here is to make sure he is comfortable, and he is able to enjoy this experience,” New Boston Fire Chief Dan Macdonald said.
Once he arrived he was met by a crowd of Star Wars characters and a round of applause.
O’Neil’s Cinemas had donated theater time on the film’s opening weekend to Ron and his family so they could enjoy Star Wars: The Last Jedi together. Kelly O’Neil the theater owner said, “We’re also big Star Wars fans and we could help him. I think any time you can help someone you should.”
Ron Villemaire was thankful to all for such an amazing experience. “I hope God will bless each and every one of them just the way I feel blessed right now. He’s definitely with me right now,” he said. “It’s just unbelievable all these people are here and thank God for Star Wars fans!”
