Disney Cruise Line Sued Following Stateroom Bunk Bed Injury

A family has filed a lawsuit against Disney Cruise Line following an incident aboard the Disney Wonder where a young guest fell from an upper bunk bed and suffered severe injuries.

According to legal filings, the incident occurred during an Alaska sailing aboard the Disney Wonder. The family was staying in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom—a room type that accommodates families with a queen bed, sofa bed, and a pull-down upper berth (bunk bed).

The lawsuit states that around 1:00 a.m., the child rolled over while asleep in the upper bunk and fell to the cabin floor. The fall resulted in fractures to both of the child’s wrists, with one injury reportedly involving a growth plate—raising concerns about long-term recovery and growth complications.

The lawsuit claims that Disney Cruise Line failed to maintain safe conditions within the stateroom. Specifically, the family alleges:

• The guardrail on the upper bunk bed did not extend across the full length of the mattress, leaving an unsafe opening through which the child fell.
• Disney Cruise Line knew, or should have known, that the design presented a risk to guests.
• Disney failed to warn the family about the gap or fix the potential safety hazard.

The family is seeking more than $50,000 in damages to cover medical bills, pain and suffering, and potential permanent impact from the injury. They have requested a jury trial.

As is standard with ongoing litigation, the claims in the complaint remain allegations until proven in court. Disney Cruise Line has not publicly commented on the pending lawsuit.
