During the last financial year (which ended in September),group turnover at Disneyland Paris, owned by EuroDisney fell 6.91% to 1.27 billion Euros which insiders are attributing to a 10% drop in visitor numbers.
It is largely believed that the Paris terrorist attacks played a key role in the decrease in attendance. Catherine Powell, President of Euro Disney explained in a statement: “Disneyland Paris has had an exceptionally challenging year. We have been impacted by various external factors that have significantly affected the tourism business in the Paris region.”
Powell went on to say, “In this adverse environment, revenue decreased 7%. This, together with the increase in costs driven by our future growth strategy of continually improving the guest experience plus the costs of additional security measures, resulted in a significant decrease in our operating performance for the fiscal year.”
Overall net loss for Disneyland Paris stood at 858 million euros for the year.
These losses were reported as France prepares to mark the one year anniversary of the attack on the French capital where 130 people lost their lives.
