Halloween time is probably my 2nd favorite time to visit the Disneyland Resort. Christmas time is my number one favorite but we’ll save that for another article. I love the Halloween/fall décor, the special Halloween treats, and getting to see characters that aren’t usually out in the park! Those are just a few reasons to visit Disneyland at this spook-tacular time of year. Here’s a more detailed list of why you should take your next Disneyland trip during Halloween time:
Fall Photo Opportunities
It’s not every day you get to see a giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin on Main Street U.S.A.! This is definitely a must-have photo op, along with the classic photo in front of the castle.
Halloween Décor
Main Street U.S.A. is transformed into a pumpkin festival with hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins on display during Halloween time. All of the buildings are decorated in their finest festive décor. Be sure to also check out the Dia de los Muertos skeleton display in Frontierland. It’s a beautiful display with lots of attention to detail.

Halloween Time Goodies
Disneyland always has some of the best tasting treats and Halloween time is no exception! One of my favorite candies is candy corn and last year Disneyland offered the delectable candy corn apple pictured above. That’s just one of the amazing sweets available during Halloween time at the Resort. Other treats that were featured last year were Bat Cake Pops, Pumpkin Marshmallow Wands, and the Haunted Mansion Clock Crispy. I’m excited to see what goodies will be featured this Halloween!
Haunted Mansion Holiday
Jack Skellington and the residents from Halloween Town have taken over the Haunted Mansion! If you are a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas then you can’t miss this attraction! There is so much detail, you’ll have to ride more than once to see it all. Be sure to look for the giant gingerbread house-it’s a different design each year!
Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
Another ride that has been transformed for Halloween time is Space Mountain. You’re launched into a haunted section of the universe and try to escape the clutches of a freaky ghost! This version of the ride is slightly scarier than the regular version, so take that into account before letting your younger children ride.
Rarely Seen Characters
Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas can be seen near the Haunted Mansion and are out for meet & greats through the Christmas season. You’ll also get to see classic characters all dressed up in their Halloween costumes. Be on the look out for Disney villains to make special appearances as well.
Halloween Merchandise
As if it’s not already difficult to not buy all of the awesome Disney merchandise, Halloween themed items are available during this time of year as well! T-shirts, ornaments, Mickey ears, and limited edition pins are just a few of the fun Halloween items you’ll find. Try not to buy them all!
Mickey’s Halloween Party
This year Mickey’s Halloween Party has been extended to 17 exciting nights! Dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy trick-or-treating (among other entertainment) at Disneyland. There’s a dance party, photo locations with popular Disney pals and villains, and access to nearly all attractions. You’ll also get to see the new “Paint the Night Parade” and the “Halloween Screams” fireworks. This special event is not to be missed and tickets are on sale now!
