Part of the excitement of heading to the parks is choosing your Disney outfit! Although getting decked out in Disney gear can be really fun, take a moment to think about the reality of wearing that outfit all day in the unpredictable Florida weather! Here are 5 essential items that should be included in your park-day wardrobe!
1. EARS! A set of ears is guaranteed to make you smile the instant you put them on. There are so many different options out there now so you will have no problem finding a pair that suits your style. Ears have come a long way since the days of the simple black or pink cap ears with an embroidered name (although I still believe those are a must for everyone to own). You can find ears in every character and theme from villains to princesses and even R2D2. The new ‘Glow with the Show’ ears let you rock your dinsey side during parades and shows with ears that change colors in time with the music! Many of you have started creating your own at home! Go for it! And rock those ears when you step through the gates of the parks!
2. Disney Shirts: I admit, I have an entire stock of Disney shirts that I wear only when I am in Disney World. No, I am not ashamed to wear them everywhere else, I just like to have it feel special when I arrive at the Magic Kingdom! A good old Mickey T-shirt adds to the excitement while walking down Main Street to meet Mickey in his circus tent! Like the hats, the options are endless! Just remember it does rain a lot in Florida so make sure your shirt can stand up to the elements! (watch the white t-shirts!)
3. Comfy Footwear: While most people advise wearing a comfortable sneaker to the parks, I am honestly a flip-flop girl myself. Yes, shoes are VERY important! Testing them ahead of time is essential! Do not buy a brand new pair of shoes an wear them for the first time while walking around World Showcase. Break them in before you travel, whether they are flops or sneaks! I prefer a really good comfortable flop so that if it does rain, I am not walking around the rest of the day in a soggy shoe. If you are a sneaker person, I recommend throwing a pair of flip-flops in your bag so that you can have something to change in to if it does rain and soak your sneakers! While Walt Disney World is full of Magic, it does still rain and rain hard!
4.Ponchos: Tut-tut, it looks like rain! A poncho is an easy, lightweight essential that can really make or break your day in the park! My family has our Disney ponchos that we bring everyday to the parks. They fold up small and I throw them in my backpack so that we are ready when the rain clouds roll in! We throw on the ponchos and keep right on going with our day! My kids also like to wear them on Kali River Rapids. ( I know this defeats the purpose of the ride but it makes them happy!)
5. Your Biggest Smile: It is true, you are never fully dressed without a smile. You are in the happiest place on earth so don’t forget to smile! Getting frustrated with crowds and lines? Find a way to Let It GO! Smiles are contagious and spreading the joy makes everyone’s day better. Cast Members, family members and fellow park-goers will notice and appreciate you having fun! Go get a hug from Goofy if you need a pick-me-up, pose with Minnie in your Minnie shirt, and get the giggles at the Mad Tea Party! Have fun and then start planning your outfit for tomorrow!
Don’t forget to pick up one our cool Disney Shirts at the Chip and Co Tee Public Store. I love the Phonetician one the best.
