Disney has brought us many magical images and attractions. Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios and Downtown Disney locations offer guests the opportunity to learn to draw their favorite animated characters, and save those images as mementos. Now Research Disney has created a robot, BeachBot, that resembles a turtle, and will allow users to translate images or drawings into large-scale sand pictures.
While use of BeachBot will require a significant amount of beach space, it will not require many other special skills. Users can send an image electronically to BeachBot, or can choose to control the robot manually, drawing anything they like. Through the use of rake-like pins, BeachBot draws on the sand within pre-set boundaries denoted by poles placed in the sand.
No information is yet available as to cost for BeachBot.
Would you be interested in using BeachBot? Would you want to own one, or just be able to rent use at specific times?
