Make a Plan B at Disneyland Resort

You have prepared your Disneyland “To-Do” list, but there are no reservations available! Since I don’t have magical connections in the park, I have learned through experience good alternatives to three things that are most often on those lists.

Blue Bayou Plan B:

Blue Bayou is arguably the most popular table service restaurant inside Disneyland. Because of its popularity, it often requires a reservation weeks, if not months, in advance. Unfortunately, there is no other restaurant with a view inside Pirates of the Caribbean, but there is one restaurant that is still very comparable: Café Orleans. Café Orleans offers many of the same memorable dishes that are served inside Blue Bayou, but with even tastier options. You can still order a Monte Cristo, but at Café Orleans you can order it with an order of pommes frites. If you have not tried the Café Orleans pommes frites, that is worth a visit to Café Orleans in itself.

Bibbity Bobbity Boutique Plan B:

For some young princesses, a trip to Disneyland isn’t complete without a stop at Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. However, you either weren’t able to get a reservation or your budget can’t manage a $60+ princess outfit. A great alternative is Studio Disney 365 in Downtown Disney. You can pick from an assortment of packages that only include hair all the way to a full makeover with a choice of outfit. My 9-year-old daughter now even prefers Studio Disney 365 to Bibbity Bobbity Boutique because she has much more opportunity to wear the outfit she chooses. This is also a great option for tweens and teenagers who have grown too old for the princess costumes.

Napa Rose/Carthay Circle Plan B:

You want fine dining, but the two most popular fancy restaurants on the resort are booked. What now? Answer: Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel. Why this isn’t a more popular restaurant is totally beyond me. The food is absolutely fantastic. After you have eaten here, you will wonder why you hadn’t gone there sooner.

Steakhouse 55's entrance is adjacent to Goofy's Kitchen.
