You can see nine decades of Disney history in Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives, opening on October 16, 2013 which is the 90th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
It is presented by D23, the exhibition celebrates the imagination, innovation and entertainment with almost 300 artifacts, many of them are not been seen by the public.
You can see drawings, props, costumes and artwork from Disney animation, theme park attractions, TV shows and live action films.
From clips of Walt Disney’s earliest works, to props, models and costumes from modern favorites like The Little Mermaid and Pirates of the Caribbean. There will be a special area of the exhibition that celebrates the 50th anniversary of Mary Poppins.
The exhibition also shows you behind the magic. A partial re-creation of Walt Disney’s Burbank office has his original furniture and a lot of his personal items. At the interactive stations, you can try creating some movie magic of your own by recording sound effects, exploring Disney’s revolutionary MultiPlane film camera, or learning to draw some of your favorite Disney characters.
This will run from October 16,2013 to February 17, 2014.
MSI members can buy tickets for $4.50 per person. D23 Gold and Silver Members will receive a special discount on entry.
