In celebration of Disney’s release of Maleficent for DVD/Blu Ray, Celebrity stylist Natalie Mark and Disney collaborated with Forever 21 brings us stylish outfits inspired by the haunting beauty of the movie’s leading ladies.
4 looks have been created, 2 for our misunderstood Maleficent one seen above, and 2 for our damsel in distress Aurora. These certainly edge on the idea of Disneyboudning, but also have more of a runway flair to them. I feel these looks aren’t necessarily inspired by the character’s looks or costumes, as much as it is their personalities. With the Maleficent inspired looks I get angry bad girl, who still has the protective fairy hiding within. As for the Aurora looks I really feel the flirty, and youthful innocence of the maiden and her yearning to be connected with nature.

I really enjoyed how these looks provided a feeling, and attitude instead of just emulating a character’s costume. The jewelry was kept very simple in all of the styles which leaves room for adding other more personalized items to it. Both the Maleficent look, and the Aurora look uses the same shoes for each style. The Black ankle boots for Maleficent make a great winter boot with lots of versatility. Aurora’s style used playful flats with a very soft hue that I can’t wait to slip on when the winter melts and spring arrives. What were your favorite parts of these new modern inspirations?
