Walt Disney Pictures has released their line up of upcoming movies for 2015. With a new movie set to be released almost every month, and May and October giving us 2 releases, it looks like it will be the year of Disney box office domination.
Listed below are the titles and a short movie synopsis for each one. I can’t wait to see all of them but already have favorites. How about you? Which movie titles are on your must see list for 2015?
Strange Magic is inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and is a fairy tale musical movie coming to theatres, January 23, 2015. Using songs from the past six decades, Strange Magic tells the story of a group of goblins, elves, fairies and imps and their hilarious misadventures over the battle for a powerful potion
McFarland, USA in theatres starting February 20, 2015, is based on the true story of a group of novice runners from McFarland, California. Under the training and direction of the new coach, Jim White (Kevin Costner) a cross-country team is built. Along the way, the team and their coach learn how the power of family relationships and hard work gave them the ability to overcome the odds to build a championship cross-country team and achieve their own kind of American dream.
Cinderella is the classic story known and loved by all. In this version full of beautiful costumes, Lily James stars as the young Ella whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But we all know what happens next…or do we? In theatres March 13, 2015 –
Monkey Kingdom coming out April 17, 2015, introduces us to Maya and her family. Set in the ancient ruins of the jungles of South Asia, DisneyNature takes us to Castle Rock where Maya and her family of blonde-bobbed monkeys live. With the birth of her son, Kip and problems with neighboring monkeys taking over their home, Maya and her family are forced to work together and find a way to get back their home and like most parents, give her son a good future.
Avengers: Age of Ultron makes its debut on May 1, 2015. “The epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time brings us Tony Stark as he tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program. Things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
Tomorrowland is another one I can’t wait to see. In theatres May 22, 2015, this mystery adventure starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney as former boy-genius Frank who is jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity. Together they go off on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.”
Inside Out takes us into a new world – Inside the mind of Riley. Uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Riley deals with the changes in her life and growing up in general with the help of her emotions — Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. The emotions come out to play on June 19, 2015.
Ant–Man comes out July 17, 2015 and tells the story of con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) whose powers include the ability to shrink in size but gain super strength. In the movie, Scott must find his inner-hero and work with his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), to protect the secret behind the spectacular Ant-Man suit, and against all odds, pull of the heist of the century that will save the world.
The Jungle Book is the remake of a Disney classic. Retelling the story of Mowgli and his jungle friends, The Jungle Book will be a live action movie with a star filled cast including Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Christopher Walken is King Louie,Bill Murray as Baloo, Lupita Nyong’o is Rakcha, Ben Kingsley, the perfect Bagheera, and young,Neel Sethi as Mowgli. In theatres on October 9, 2015.
The Untitled Steven Spielberg Cold War Spy Thriller is based on the true story of James Donavan, an attorney who is thrust into the middle of the Cold War when he is sent on what might be an impossible mission by the CIA to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Starring Tom Hanks and produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, this untitled Thriller coming out October 16, 2015, is at the top of my list.
The Good Dinosaur comes out for Thanksgiving on November 25, 2015. The film is rumored to be about the adventures of Arlo, an Apatosaurs,and his human friend Spot. Although we heard there had been some changes made. The sub story is about a farming community of dinosaurs where all the different species perform their designated jobs. Triceratops are the bulldozers, Stegosauruses act as mowers while the Apatosaurs take care of the plowing. Guess we have to wait until next year to meet Arlo and Spot.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the perfect way to end the year of Disney movies on December 18, 2015. The much-anticipated movie takes us 30 years into the future. With new characters and many familiar faces, Star War fans, young and old can’t wait for the release. So many rumors and article about the story line have us wondering exactly will happen to our favorite characters and who does the mysterious lightsaber belong to? New looks for the Stormtroppers and Villains makes this the movie to see next December.
