Disney has confirmed that 20th Century Fox is no longer overseeing the adaptation of the book, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” and that Disney has taken over the project.
Judith Viorst’s classic picture book has been adapted a few times in the past; namely, by HBO and as a stage musical written by Viorst. The new adaptation by Disney adds a new element by the addition of some special talent including Lisa Cholodenko from “The Kids Are All Right” and Steve Carell who will be Alexander’s dad.
First published in 1972, Alexander a ginger-haired five-year old starts his day by tripping on a skateboard and then things go downhill from there. Stay tuned for more details on this new project that is sure to excite fans of the book.
