Disney destinations around the world make for extremely exciting and magical vacations. But, the planning process can be overwhelming, especially if you have never traveled beyond Florida or California. Hopefully these 10 tips will make the process a little easier for you!!
10- Getting There: Disneyland Paris is easily accessible from Downtown Paris, Charles De Gaulle and Orly airports. The Marnee La Vallee-Chessy train station is a stop on the Eurostar and RER train lines, and puts you right in the middle of Disneyland Paris. There are also shuttle options from the airport. Disneyland Paris is about 60 minutes outside Paris.
9- Where To Stay: There are five different levels of resorts and categorized as 1 to 5 Keys. As you go higher in keys, the more amenities you will find. Resorts ranging from two to five keys are within walking distance to the parks, ranging from 5 to 20 minutes. There are also free shuttles from the two to four key resorts. The one key resort requires you to drive to the parks.
The resorts are as follows:
- Disneyland Hotel
- Disney’s Hotel New York
- Disney’s Newport Bay Club and Disney’s Sequoia Lodge
- Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe and Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne
- Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch
Disney has also partnered with 8 hotels off-site which offer free shuttles. One thing to be mindful of is that some resorts do not have air conditioning, pools, or elevators.
8- What To Do: Disneyland Paris is composed of three areas to have fun- Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, and the Disney Village. You will find many similarities to the U.S. parks throughout Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park, along with some unique touches. The parks are broken up into lands or lots and feature attractions and dining.
7- Where To Eat: There are over 50 restaurants scattered throughout the Disney Resorts, Disney Parks, and Disney Village. Disneyland Paris also offers a number of different dining plans to best suit your family and your dining preferences. Some include just meals at your resort, others include just lunch or dinner, and then there is even a plan that encompasses three meals a day. And, just like the US-based parks, there are character dining options and fun-filled dinner shows for the whole family to enjoy!
6- How Long To Stay: It is recommended to do at least one day in each park and a day to explore the Disney Village. Four or five days at Disneyland Paris would be optimal and allow to cover most everything, especially if you do not have plans to return soon.
5- How To Get The Best Rates: Your travel agent will be able to work very closely with Disneyland Paris to ensure you are getting the best package for your magical getaway! Disneyland Paris offers different promotions throughout the year that may included discounted rooms, tickets, and even kids staying and playing free!
4- When to Book: Unlike the U.S. Parks, Disneyland Paris does not release dates far in advance. Typically the norm is about 6 months ahead you can book this trip.
3- Things To Do Beyond Disneyland Paris: If you are planning to spend the bulk of your time at Disneyland Paris but want to explore a little more, there are two tours that will take you to the heart of Paris to take in the sites (via guided tours) and allow you time to check out the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum, up close! These are great ways to immerse your family into the Parisian culture and the tours do include free time for you to explore what appeals to you.
2- Travel Tips: if you have a little one traveling with you, it is highly suggested that you bring a stroller with you, as they can be pricey in the parks. If you forget something at home, there is the Val D’Europe shopping mall right next door. There is also a gas station, located just outside the park gates, to stock up on snacks and drinks. A baby station can also be found just past Main Street in Disneyland Park. Just remember, you are traveling Disney-style…and while you are abroad, many of the conveniences you have learned to expect will be available!
