“Zootopia,” starring Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, was released March 4th in the U.S., is already breaking box office records, last we reported “Zootopia” was the biggest Walt Disney Animation Studios opening weekend. Now, “Zootopia ” has reached $500 million at the box office worldwide. Walt Disney Animation Studios is certainly doing well, to say the least, with their last two animated films, “Frozen,” and “Big Hero 6” reaching $500 million dollars as well.
As of last Thursday, “Zootopia” had earned $163.8 million domestically, and $335.3 oversees. If it surpasses $675 million worldwide, it will take the third place of highest grossing Walt Disney Animation Studio’s films of all time, after “Frozen” and “The Lion King”! With not even a month in the theaters in the U.S., it looks like it is off to a good start! While we still wait for it to further climb the charts in the U.S., “Zootopia” has already become the biggest Disney Animation Studios film in Russia, China, and Thailand.
Having seen “Zootopia” myself, it’s no surprise to me that it is becoming so successful, having such a relevant message for today’s audiences yet still has the ability to remain a classic and stand the test of time for years to come!
